Michael Asti-Rose

Biography

According to Hollywood...Michael is an eccentric and prolific artist who oozes his passion for the goddess, nature, community and naturism in his beautiful, artful expressions. His creations are spectacular and defy the norm, as he graciously shares his love of the human body in all its natural glory.  It is truly an example of the simplicity and openness that naturism brings to those who experience the freedom it lends.

More about Michael...and more to come...

Michael Asti-Rose is a West Coast photographer and sculptor.  His passions are herbs and urban gardens.   His many public "art benches," which he hand-carves in yellow cedar in a monumental style, are well known in the Vancouver area.

Michaels first career was in film-production at CBC-TV, notably on the editing team of The Nature of Things.  Later studio experience included a position on the set of Mr. Dressup as a production assistant.

His independant film Silent Movie won the Genie, Canada's academy award.  The Jungian film-poem Mirror, is in the collection of the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa.  It was acquired when Rose's film won an award in the U.S. and recognition in Paris after its screening at Le Centre Pompidou.

His photographs are widely collected and have appeared in magazines in Canada and Europe.  He has also published a good amount of photojournalism and spent a year as an assistant editor at Maclean-Hunter, Toronto.

Michael was born in south Asia during the partition of India and Pakistan and graduated from high-school in India.  The London International Film School in the U.K. is where he studied cinema, following college in Ontario.
